"Sam" Osamah Jamil Khader Amer

“Sam” Osamah Jamil Khader Amer, 58, of Salem, Arkansas, passed away, Monday, December 20, 2021, in Salem.

He was born in Amman, Jordan, on May 13, 1963, son of Jamil and the late Halimeh Amer. Sam spent his life as a loving son, brother, husband, father, jiddo, uncle, and friend. He was united in marriage to his love of his life, Deborah Diane Cantrell in Jonesboro, Arkansas, on March 20, 1986. Sam loved to cook, and owned Sam’s Twisted Stuff in a Bun and Grill food truck and his food was loved by many. He was known for his famous ranchero. Sam was a fire fighter for the Viola Fire Department for over 20 years, first responder for Viola and Fulton County and worked for the Fulton County Road Department. He was a big jokester and enjoyed fishing. Sam loved his family and loved spending time with them. His wife, Debbie was his queen and he loved her with his whole heart and lived his life for her.

Sam is survived by his wife, Debbie Amer of Salem, Arkansas; son, Jamil Osamah Amer of Henderson, Arkansas; daughters, Stephanie Marconni (Mike) of Chicago, Illinois, Christina Cantrell of Jonesboro, Arkansas, Halimeh Hall (Jimmy, Jr.) of Jonesboro, Arkansas and Jamila West (James) of Glencoe, Arkansas; brothers, Haroon Amer and Ma’mmon Amer; sisters, Maha Amer, Asma Amer, Maryam Amer, Kawther Amer, Fatema Amer and Ayat Amer; grandchildren, Matthew, Giovanni and Kaia all of Chicago, Illinois, Slay Smock of Jonesboro, Arkansas, Ayden, Chase, Jace and Kayleena all of Jonesboro, Arkansas, Amera and Alina of Glencoe, Arkansas and Landon and Millie of Chicago, Illinois and Novalee of Henderson, Arkansas and nephews, Jessie McMillian (Yvette), Josh McMillian and Jesse Wilson.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Halimeh Amer; maternal grandmother and paternal grandmother.

Memorial services will be held Tuesday, December 28, 2021, beginning at 6:00 PM at Doty Family Funeral Service Chapel of Salem, Arkansas with Bro. Mike Yates officiating.

When I met Sam and Debbie, they instantly took me in as a kid and I called them mom and dad. Later our friendship became stronger and that's when I knew they were family. To all of my family and I'm sure many others. We miss you Osamah.. life was too short. I'm so sorry for his family's loss..I love them all so dearly
