Christine Caruthers

Christine Caruthers, 89, of Salem, departed this life on Monday, October 4, 2021. She was born in Butler County, Kentucky on August 5, 1932 to William Garrett Scruggs and Mary Nancy Ward.

She was united in marriage to Dairel Caruthers on June 24,1955 in Indianapolis, Indiana. To this union one child was born, Patsy Caruthers Carter of Hutchinson, Kansas.

Christine was sweet, witty, sassy, blunt and to the point when needed. She loved her family and loved spoiling her grandchildren. She enjoyed dancing, music, and WWE.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Dairel Caruthers, brothers, Donald, Paul, and Gilbert; sisters, Alice Faye and Barbara Key.

Christine is survived by her daughter, Patsy Carter (Kevin) of Hutchinson, Kansas; brother, William “Buddy” Scruggs of Indianapolis, Indiana; sisters, Helen Cole of Zephyrhills, Florida and Carolyn Hubbard of Dubois, Indiana; grandchildren, Christina Smith, James Farra, Hallie Armstrong, and Jamie VanStrien; great grand children, James Smith, Alesha Hill, Rocky Smith, and James Farra, Devon Farra, Donnie Farra, Kolbi Collins, Katelynn Caselton, Wyatt Caselton, and Courtny Caselton; 11 great great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and many other extended family members.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 6, 2021, beginning at 11:00 AM at Salem First Baptist Church in Salem, Arkansas with Bro. John Hodges officiating. Interment will follow at Union Cemetery in Union, Arkansas. Visitation will be Tuesday, October 5, 2021, from 5-7 PM.

Pallbearers will be Rocky Smith, Kevin Carter, Brach Hill, Wyatt Caselton, J.D. Farra, Donnie Farra, and Luke Armstrong.
Honorary Pallbearers will be James Farra, Brett Hill, Layton Smith, and Blake Smith.
