David Loyd "Buck" Guffey

July 1, 1919 - February 25, 2016

David Loyd "Buck" Guffey, of Gepp, Arkansas, son of the late George William Guffey and Nancy Jane Cotter Guffey, was born July 1, 1919 in Ott, Arkansas. He died February 25, 2016 at Fulton County Hospital in Salem at the age of 96 years 7 months and 24 days.

He was united in marriage to Hazel Lorraine Vaughan on April 13, 1940. She preceded him in death and he married Zelma Lucille Tackitt Oct. 12, 1957 at Vidette, AR. He was a self-employed farmer and trader. He served his Counrty in the United States Navy during WWII and he was of the Baptist faith, and was Baptized at a young age.

Guffey and wife Sharon of Viola; Junior Guffey and wife Pam of Bakersfield, MO; Lynn Guffey and wife Mary of Gepp; Jerry Parton and wife Betty of Mt. Pleasant, IA and Kenneth Parton and wife Diana of Moody, MO; grandchildren: Ronda Collins; Danny Guffey; Mickey Guffey; Lisa Shrable; Tresa Lester; Bryan Guffey; Mike Guffey; Tammy Lair; Stacy Guffey; Lucinda Bishop; Miranda Hurtt; Melinda Wray; John Guffey; Becky Parton; Jason Parton; Kenneth W. Parton; Kandra Roffers; Krystal Parton and Kody Parton; great grandchildren: Jamie Hardin; Amanda Parker; Sheray Willard; Heath Guffey; Clay Guffey; Jacee and Josie Guffey; Jessie and Leslie Shrable; Corby James; Clint Lester; Lane Guffey; Carson Guffey; Troy Guffey; Brooke Lair; Austin Lair; Cayden Lair; Zoey Guffey; Whitt Bishop; Bryce Bishop; Riley Hurtt; Quincy Hurtt; Marlee Wray; Grayson Wray; Brandon Parton; Kassi Chase; Kendra Parton; Hannah Roffers; Kalexza Snethern; Kelton Payne; Kyvin Parton and Kenzie Parton; great-great grandchildren: Bodie and Briggs Hardin; Addie and Ellie Parker; Audra, Jewelia and Georgia Willard; Abbigail and Case Guffey; Kyleigh, Leah, Kenadie and Kameron Chase; Kaileigh and Wyatt Parton; and a host of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by both wives; siblings: Albert Guffey, George Guffey, Effie Morrison, Noble Guffey, D.L. Guffey and two who died in infancy, two daughters-in-law, Wanda Guffey and Cheryl Guffey and his father and mother.

Pallbearers are: Danny Guffey, Mickey Guffey, Bryan Guffey, Mike Guffey, Stacy Guffey, John Guffey, Kenneth Wayne Parton, Kody Parton, and Jason Parton. Honorary Pallbearers are: David Gohn, Pete Harber, Darrell Cotter, Harold Dean Turner, Danny Perryman, Kenneth Guffey, Clinton Guffey, Jurel Guffey, Paul Brewer and Flay Mahan.

Services are Monday, Feb. 29, 2016 at Full Gospel Church in Bakersfield, MO. beginning at 2 pm. Burial will follow at Hurst Cemetery in Ott, AR, under the direction of Cox-Blevins Funeral Home of Salem. Visitation wil be Sunday from 6-8 pm at Cox-Blevins Chapel.
