Majoria DeShazo, age 93, a resident of Viola, Arkansas, passed away on October 14, 2015. She was born in Flora, Arkansas, on December 15, 1921, to Lester A. and Odia Sutton. She was married to James R. DeShazo on August 19, 1940.
She was preceded in death by her husband, and two brothers: Harold Sutton and Jack Sutton.
Majoria is survived by her loving family: One daughter, Judy James, wife of Jerry James, who live in Viola; Two sons, Eddie DeShazo, husband of Velisa (Montgomery), who live in Horseshoe Bend; and Tommy DeShazo, who lives in San Diego, California.
She is also survived by five grandchildren: Cindy Humphries of Mountain Home, Kim Whitten of Evening Shade, Kyle DeShazo of North Little Rock, Sarah Hardin of Bridgeport, West Virginia, and Hadley DeShazo of Horseshoe Bend. She is further survived by three great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
Majoria was extremely proud of her teaching career. She touched many lives in Fulton County during her 33 years of service to the Viola and Salem school systems. She was a lifelong member of the Viola First Baptist Church, which she proudly served.
Funeral service will be at Viola First Baptist Church on Monday, October 19th at 2:00 p.m. with burial to follow at Viola Cemetery, under the direction of Cox-Blevins Funeral Home of Salem. Honorary pallbearers are: The Deacons of the Viola First Baptist Church.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to HOSPICE OF NORTH ARKANSAS (Mountain Home) which provided phenomenal care and support to Majoria and the family.
