Esther “Peggy” Palmer, 94 of Salem, Arkansas passed away Sunday, September 11, 2016 at Baxter Regional Medical Center in Mountain Home, Arkansas. She was born on her father’s farm in Alton, Kansas on December 2, 1921, to Thomas Filer Hale and Nettie Gregory Hale. She leaves to mourn her passing her son, Thomas Lemon Sr and wife Cathy of Salem, Arkansas; five grandchildren, Thomas Lemon Jr and wife Tammy, Christina Dawson, Todd Lemon and wife Erin all of Salem, Arkansas, Natalie Millard and husband David of Kansas City, Missouri and Leticia Melton and husband Bronson of Little Rock, Arkansas; 11 great-grandchildren; sister, Betty Fenton of Hutchinson, Kansas and a host of friends and family. She was preceded in death by her parents; three husbands, Orville Dayton Lemon, Dr. Ed Obenauer and Lane Palmer; one brother; four sisters and one son, Lowell Lemon.
“Peggy” Palmer was a hard and dedicated worker. She was passionate in all her endeavors from pie baking in Kansas to her love for the senior centers and her numerous careers. She loved her family and her church, First Baptist in Viola. She enjoyed people from her dear neighbors to every person she met.
Upon her request there will be a graveside service at Salem Cemetery on Tuesday, September 13, 2016 beginning at 10:00 AM with Bro. Larry Ring officiating. Pallbearers include: Hugo Puerta, James Cantrell, Dakota Reynolds, Stacy Perryman, Tuesday Melton, Kayla Sallee and Corbie Branscum. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Senior Center of Fulton County, 309 West Church Street, Salem, Arkansas 72576 or Arkansas Children’s Hospital, 1 Children’s Way, Little Rock, Arkansas 72202.
