JR Cotter was born April 11, 1925 in Vidette, Arkansas to Gertrude (Crotts) and Thurlo Cotter.
He served his country honorably during World War II with the 318th infantry 80th division.
After the war he married Barbara Ellen Spurlock in Belvidere, Illinois on September 1st, 1948.
Born to them were 6 daughters, Kathy (Charles Estes), Terry (Ray Wineland), Sheery (O'Dale Rains), Debbie (Mike Fore), Tammy (Mark Gardner), Denise (Kevin Browning).
JR enjoyed fishing, hunting, storytelling, jokes and baseball, especially the Saint Louis Cardinals.
JR is survived by his 6 daughters, 13 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, brothers Carl Cotter and Larry Cotter, sisters Fern Blake, Alice (Junior Spence), Glenda (James Stone), sisters-in-laws Monteen Cotter and Jeanne Cotter, and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
JR was preceeded in death by his wife Barbara, brothers Marvin Cotter, Glen Cotter, Lee Cotter, Birl Cotter, Randle Cotter, and Chester Cotter, one son-in-law O'Dale Rains and one grandson Ray Gene Wineland.
Funeral services will be at Doty Family Funeral Service Chapel in Salem, Arkansas on Wednesday, July 27th, 2022 at 11:00 AM. Visitation services will be at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, July 27th, 2022 at Doty Family Funeral Service Chapel.
Burial will follow the service at Pickren Hall Cemetery in Viola, Arkansas.
