Lavern Stroud

Lavern Stroud, 86, of Salem, Arkansas, passed away, Tuesday, November 23, 2021, in Salem.

She was born in Heart, Arkansas, on December 30, 1934, daughter of the late Joe and Myrtle (Romine) Moss. Lavern spent her life as a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend. She was united in marriage to the late Garland Odell Stroud on April 26, 1954, in Salem, Arkansas. Lavern spent her working years working for Fulton County Hospital in Salem. She was a member of Heart Baptist Church in Heart. Lavern enjoyed camping, traveling, fishing, and reading. She loved her family and always enjoyed spending time with them.

Lavern is survived by her significant other of 37 years, Leonard Dunn of Salem, Arkansas; daughters, B.J. Stroud (Tom Smith) of Gassville, Arkansas, Betty Jo Calloway (Pat) of Norfork, Arkansas, Wanda Lou Goodson (J.T.) of Agnos, Arkansas and Kathleen Jane Wells of Salem, Arkansas; two grandchildren, Jessica Ann Goodman (Stan) and Shane Goodson (Brett); four great grandchildren and special niece, Gayle French.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Odell Stroud; parents, Joe and Myrtle Moss; brothers, Russell Moss, Bobby Hugh Moss and Leonard Moss and son-in-law, Bud Wells.

Graveside services will be Friday, November 26, 2021, beginning at 10:00 AM with Bro. Tom Doty officiating at Burk’s Chapel Cemetery in Camp, Arkansas.

So sorry to learn the passing of Lavern. She was a fantastic lady who loved her family and enjoyed being with them. She will be missed by many. Prayers for all the family as they go through this difficult time.
