Stephen Ray Wallace Penland

Stephen Ray Wallace Penland, 68, of Jordan, Arkansas, passed away, Thursday, June 1, 2023, in Jordan.

He was born in Kansas City, Kansas, on December 27, 1954, son of the late John Rodney Penland and Charlotte Marie Smith Penland. During his working years, Stephen worked in maintenance. Stephen loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them. He enjoyed traveling, fishing, chasing weather on the weather channel and sports. Stephen was a Kansas City Chiefs and Royals fan. He was a member of Unity Temple on the Plaza.

Stephen is survived by his sons, Stephen Joe Penland of Jordan, Arkansas, John Matthew Penland of Le Claire, Iowa, Thomas (Candy) Penland of Brockwell, Arkansas and Matthew Wallace (Chelsea) Penland of Dayton, Texas; sister, Susan Michael Kelly; grandchildren, Olivia Taylor Penland, Layla Elizabeth Penland, Marley Ava Penland, Emily Joe Penland, Lyden James Penland, Maileigh Grace Penland, Leven Ray Penland, Georgia Beth Penland and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, John “Pete” Rodney Penland and sister, Kristy Lynn Penland.

Pallbearers include his four sons.

Funeral Services will be held, Saturday, June 3, 2023, at Doty Family Funeral Service Chapel in Salem, Arkansas beginning at 3:00 PM with Bro. Jamie Cowgill officiating. Interment will follow at Elizabeth Cemetery in Elizabeth, Arkansas. Visitation will be prior to the service beginning at 2:00 PM.
