Sublett, Velma Maxine

November 28, 1927 - September 7, 2014

Velma Maxine Sublett, 86, of Gassville, formerly of Viola, daughter of the late Everett Cantrell and Lona Dixon Cantrell, was born November 28, 1927 in Milfay, Oklahoma. She died Septmenber 7, 2014 at her home in Gassville, at the age of 86 years 9 months and 10 days.

She was united in marriage to Harold Sublett February 7, 1947 in Viola. To this union, two sons were born. Velma loved the Lord and was always involved in activities at First Baptist Church. She loved her family and friends and at the top of the list her flowers. She had worked as a caregiver at Calico Nursing Home, then at a bakery, and did crochet and upholstery.

She is survived by her sons: Gene Sublett and wife Sandra of Buffalo City, and Randy Sublett of Gassville; grandchildren: Chris Sublett, Amanda Sublett, Randi Marie Holland and husband Joe, and Emily Sublett; one great-grandson, Easton Holland; one sister, Lois Daniel and husband Gerald of Viola; and many nieces nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Harold, one sister, Thelma Smith, and brother, Harold Cantrell; and her father and mother.

Pallbearers will be: Steve Nelson, Alex Cunningham, Charles Owens, and Gerald Daniel.

Graveside Services are Friday, September 9, 2014 at 10 am at Viola Cemetery with burial to follow, under the direction of Cox-Blevins Funeral Home of Salem.
